Naomi Earns Women’s SmackDown Championship Match At Super ShowDown

Tonight [2/21/2020] on WWE Smackdown, Naomi defeated Carmella to become the number 1 contender to Bayley’s SmackDown Women’s Championship. Naomi and Bayley will square off on Super ShowDown next Thursday in Saudi Arabia.

This will be the second time two women will be wrestling on the Saudi Arabia card. What’s interesting about this is Naomi will be the first African-American Woman competing in Saudi Arabia.

The Saudi show will be taking place in the month of February. February is Black History Month in the United States. It will be interesting to see if WWE promotes this accomplishment for Naomi or still focuses on the fact that women are wrestling in WWE?

WWE hasn’t been known for subtlety. Typically, WWE goes out of its way to praise themselves when they break barriers they themselves create.

However, any company being able to allow minority women to accomplish things in a country that is behind a lot of the world when it comes to women’s rights is a good thing.

Congratulations to Naomi for earning the right to face Bayley. Of course, she won’t be the only minority wrestling in the match. Bayley is of Hispanic descent.

Good luck to both women and here’s to hoping they are able to put on an incredible match and steal the show next Thursday.
