New Champion Crowned On AEW: Dynamite

AEW held the Winter is Coming Special Edition of Dynamite on December 2, 2020. It advertised the show as the biggest in the history of the program. Normally, when a wrestling company promotes something with that kind of hype, fans often don’t believe it will live up to the hype. Not this time.

A former WWE Hall of Famer made an incredible debut on the show. However, even bigger news might just be that Kenny Omega is the new AEW World Heavyweight Champion.

While many fans expected him to walk out as champion, I doubt many fans who predicted the way the show would end. Kenny Omega was Paradigm Shifted through one of the heaters on the outside of the ring.

The doctors ran to check on him. Don Callis, who was on commentary and is a close friend of Omega, left commentary and checked on his friend. Moxley wasn’t having the match end like that and drug Kenny back into the ring. Callis grabbed a mic and called for the match to be ended.

Moxley clobbered Callis and Callis tossed the mic to Omega. While the ref was checking on Callis, Omega busted Moxley open with the mic and then unloaded with four V-Triggers. Omega hit the One-Winged Angel and pinned Moxley.

Omega is the new AEW World Heavyweight Champion. He and Callis grabbed the belt and ran out of the arena. Alex Marvez chased them down and Callis said they would tell the world what happened on Tuesday Night.

Tuesday Night is the night IMPACT Wrestling airs on AXS. Callis is a top executive in IMPACT. Could we be seeing a working relationship? Whatever the case, that ending was chaotic and we’ve got a new AEW Champion.

Kenny Omega is the third AEW World Champion following Chris Jericho and Jon Moxley.
