An NJPW star has offered to replace the recently injured Will Ospreay in an upcoming match at Impact Wrestling Multiverse United.
On March 30, Impact Wrestling and NJPW: Multiverse United: Only The Strong Survive would have been Ospreay taking on Mike Bailey in what Speedball stated would be the “greatest professional wrestling match of all time.”
Unfortunately, Ospreay sustained a shoulder injury in his New Japan Cup match on March 13 that sidelined him from the rest of the tournament.
After the New Japan Cup Finals on Tuesday March 21, Hiroshi Tanahashi put himself forward as a replacement for the injured Ospreay.
In a tweet on the official New Japan Pro-Wrestling, Tanahashi would say:
“On March 30th (local time), there is a joint tournament between New Japan Pro-Wrestling and IMPACT! You will regret choosing me. I will leave the biggest impact.”

Neither NJPW or Impact Wrestling have, at the time of writing, addressed Tanahashi’s suggestion.

In addition to Mike Bailey, the card currently features a Knockouts Championship match, an eight-man inter-promotional match and an Impact Tag Team Championship match.
NJPW and AEW will, once again, unite for the next Forbidden Door show in June 2023.
