After last night’s May 29 episode of WWE Raw, an NXT star has commented after surprisingly making his debut on the show.
Indus-Sher, the tag team of Veer and Sanga along with Jinder Mahal in their corner, picked up another dominant win last night.
The win came against two NXT talents, one of whom is a TV regular in the form of ‘Big Body Javi’, Javier Bernal.
Although Bernal and his tag team partner for last night – Performance Center trainee Kevin Ventura-Cortes who has yet to even have a match in NXT – lost in decisive fashion, Bernal took to Twitter afterwards, quick to point out it was Ventura-Cortes who took the fall:
First time appearance on #WWERaw and I have never been beaten 🧐
He also shared video footage of a previous interaction he’d had with Indus-Sher on NXT TV along with the hashtag #LongTermStoryTelling which you can see below.
Bernal’s real-life partner and fellow NXT star Tatum Paxley also commented, tweeting:
I’m a #BigBodyBeliever 🖤
Bernal was mentioned by name on commentary, but Ventura-Cortes, who as mentioned before hasn’t even wrestled in NXT yet, wasn’t given either his real name or a new ring name.
This isn’t the only time NXT talent have been used in squash matches on WWE TV recently, as Valentina Feroz and Yulisa Leon lost quickly to Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn on SmackDown a couple of weeks ago.
WWE had generally used unsigned indie wrestlers in that losing role, but perhaps there’s been a shift in mentality and it’s something we’ll see more of with NXT talents going forward.
Tonight’s May 30 episode of NXT will feature the fallout from Battleground on Sunday. The results from Battleground were as follows:
North American Championship – Wes Lee (c) def. Joe Gacy, Tyler Bate
Heritage Cup Championship – Noam Dar (c) def. Dragon Lee thanks to interference from Oro Mensah, Jakara Jackson and Lash Legend
Last Man Standing – Ilja Dragunov def. Dijak
NXT Tag Team Championship – Mark Coffey & Wolfgang (c) def. Brutus & Julius Creed
NXT Women’s Championship – Tiffany Stratton def. Lyra Valkyria
NXT Championship – Carmelo Hayes (c) def. Bron Breakker
I suppose it was probably payback for this, but I’ve never been beaten by Indus Sher! #LongTermStoryTelling #BigBodyJavi https://t.co/O2MuwpUxRq pic.twitter.com/w3hho6dgOO
