Official WWE Raw Women’s Champion Decided

The official WWE Raw Women’s Champion has been decided during tonight’s episode of Raw on the USA Network following controversy.

At the Horror Show at Extreme Rules, Asuka defended the title against Sasha Banks, but the match ended in confusion as Asuka spat green mist in the referee’s face, and Bayley inserted herself as referee and counted the pin so Banks could win.

Asuka, who won the title in the Women’s Money in the Bank match as Becky Lynch had to relinquish it due to pregnancy, remained listed as the champion on WWE.com despite having been pinned.

On last week’s episode of Raw, the night after Extreme Rules, Stephanie McMahon appeared to announce that tonight there would be a match to determine the official rightful champion. The title was able to change hands on a countout and disqualification, meaning there was no champion’s advantage for either competitor.

In yet another controversial finish, it was Sasha Banks who won via countout as Bayley was shown backstage attacking Asuka’s tag team partner Kairi Sane, and Asuka went to save her.

It has seemed ever since they reunited as a team that the goal would be for Bayley and Banks to split and have a singles match, but there have been question marks over whether that would be happening at SummerSlam or later down the line. If they both remain champions, it could be Survivor Series.
