The attraction of working under Triple H appears to be playing havoc in AEW, with a new report suggesting one star has requested his release from the company.
According to Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, at least one AEW star has had their release request rejected, and this person has a long time left on their AEW deal.
Stories that WWE was contacting AEW stars were leaked a few weeks ago, and it appears to be working, as Dave Meltzer wrote:
Regarding the talent approached by WWE, as we noted last week it was multiple people, generally the people who had worked with Paul Levesque in he past in NXT. Several told AEW which led to the legal letter sent to Levesque, Stephanie and Nick Khan. There was at least one person who asked for his release, which hasn’t been granted and the person has a long time left on his deal.
Meltzer did not say who the person who requested their release was, but he does seem to suggest it’s someone Triple H has worked with in the past in NXT, so you can make your own assumptions, perhaps.
While it’s still relatively unheard of, this really does feel like the start of an era where there will be a lot of movement from AEW to WWE, and vice versa.
