Real Reason For Roman Reigns Vs. Sami Zayn WWE Rematch? WWE

The real reason WWE has booked a rematch between Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns and Sami Zayn may have been revealed.

Reigns and Zayn had that incredible match in Montreal at Elimination Chamber, and it was announced yesterday (February 27) that they’ll be running it back for a house show in Toronto on March 4.

Despite it being a house show, obviously the fact Reigns and Zayn are going to have another match has caused quite a stir, and now we know more about the story.

Dave Meltzer mentioned on Wrestling Observer Radio that the originally advertised match for the Toronto show was actually Reigns teaming with Solo Sikoa against Zayn and Kevin Owens in a tag match.

However, on TV, Zayn and Owens are still in the process of mending their friendship heading into WrestleMania, so even though it’s a house show and only those in attendance would see it, it wouldn’t make sense for them to team up yet.

That, coupled with the idea that a Reigns vs Zayn rematch would likely shift plenty of tickets, looks to be why WWE made the adjustment.

Meltzer said that the show had sold just under 6,000 tickets the last time he’d checked, and that Reigns being announced for the show a few days ago (not for this specific match, just that he’d be on the show), led to around 600 tickets being sold in the couple of days that followed, which is impressive form.

It’s not quite as impressive, however, as John Cena, who sold around 2,000 tickets for the March 6 Raw in Boston in the couple of days after his return was announced, but obviously that’s for a TV taping rather than a house show.
