When WWE released additional touring dates in August, it was announced that a ‘WWE PPV’ was scheduled for December 12 in Chicago. Last month, it was reported that TLC was set to air on December 19, and that there was no longer a December 12 event in the internal WWE calendar. It has since been reported that there will not be a pay-per-view at all in the month of December.
As per Fightful Select (subscription required), the plan for no December pay-per-view was made over a month ago, and internal calendars have now been updated.
WWE sources reportedly indicated that the previously scheduled December dates were scrapped because the January 1 ‘WWE Day 1’ pay-per-view would’ve been happening so soon after. The January event has been ‘spearheaded’ by Nick Khan, as per the report.
TLC has aired in December every year since 2009, except 2017, when the show took place in October. It appears this year will be another exception.
Royal Rumble 2021 is set for January 29, meaning we’ll have two WWE pay-per-views in the first month of 2022.
