Could Johnny Impact be about to change his name to Johnny AEW or Johnny WWE?
Despite going one-on-one with Rich Swann last night in an X-Division Championship match at Impact Slammiversary XVII, Mike Johnson of PWInsider is reporting that Johnny Impact’s contract with Impact Wrestling actually expired “several weeks ago”.
The report suggests that the former Impact World Champion agreed a deal with the promotion to continue working until last night’s pay-per-view event so that he could finish his championship feud with Rich Swann.
The report suggests that the two parties are currently in talks to continue working together. However, no deal has been agreed upon as of yet and Johnny Impact is officially a free agent and able to talk to other companies.
There is no word as of yet if any other promotions are looking to secure the services of the former John Morrison in WWE. WrestleTalk will provide more information if and when it becomes available.
As one former WWE star has left Impact, another has seemingly joined as a wrestling veteran debuted at last night’s pay-per-view while reportedly still being under contract with Vince McMahon’s company.
