Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar are set to do battle once again in just a few weeks as they go one-on-one at the inaugural WWE Day 1 PPV on New Year’s Day.
It has been reported in the past that Reigns and Lesnar are scheduled to have a series of matches, likely culminating at WrestleMania 38 in 2022, and this next match may well be a big step in building to that final battle.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE is currently planning a “big finish” for the Day 1 match.
The report reads:
“At this point, Reigns vs. Lesnar is scheduled to be a match designed to have a big finish that would leave people wanting a rematch, which at this point would be the WrestleMania main event.”
Reigns vs. Lesnar is likely the biggest match WWE can currently put on, so having them main event WrestleMania 38 is an unsurprising choice.
With The Rock rumoured for WrestleMania 39, we will likely be seeing Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar feuding for the foreseeable future, with perhaps a Happy Corbin thrown in for some variety.
