Vince McMahon has always been controlling and now it appears he has put his foot down once again. This time, it is regarding the use of third-party platforms such as Twitch and Cameo.
Raj Giri of Wrestling Inc reported earlier today that McMahon issued an edict this week that “talent can no longer engage with outside third parties”. They also said this would presumably include platforms such as Cameo and Twitch.
The report also stated that McMahon issued a letter on Thursday, saying it was imperative that the stars promote and protect the WWE brand in every way possible. They will have 30 days to stop engaging with third parties. Here is the quote from the letter:
“Some of you are engaged with outside third parties using your name and likeness in ways that are detrimental to our company,” McMahon wrote. “It is imperative that these activities be terminated within the next 30 days (by Friday October 2). Continued violations will result in fines, suspension, or termination at WWE’s discretion.”
Fightful was also able to confirm the story while adding on Fightful Select (subscription required) that some names in WWE were not upset while others were livid. They also reported that WWE was upset about information leaking during streams.
