It appears that we very nearly got a 2020 version of the Nation of Domination on Monday Night Raw.
On this week’s show, the “Hurt Business”, the new faction featuring MVP, Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin, was defeated by Mustafa Ali, Cedric Alexander and Ricochet.
It appears that original plans were for the trio to become a new Nation of Domination, and that WWE Hall of Famer Ron Simmons would be part of the angle in some way.
Simmons did in fact make an appearance on this past week’s episode of Raw, but it was noted by the Wrestling Observer that the bigger angle was scrapped ahead of the show being broadcast.
It isn’t clear whether the angle has been completely dropped, or whether it has simply been pushed back a few weeks.
Simmons was brought in specifically for the Nation of Domination angle, which is why he was around to film other skits with members of the proposed faction.
We may know more about the faction once United States Champion Apollo Crews returns, as MVP is looking to challenge him for his title after the match was taken off the Extreme Rules card due to Crews being unable to make tapings.
