Just looking at EC3, you would think that he was an obvious candidate for one of WWE’s biggest stars. His oily, orange body is exactly what we think of when we imagine Vince McMahon’s dreams, but for whatever reason, it hasn’t worked out.
It was reported earlier this year that Vince hadn’t enjoyed a match between EC3 and the then Dean Ambrose, which completely killed any plans for a push.
He has since won the 24/7 belt very briefly, but is firmly a jobber and unlikely to ever re-emerge.
However, he has been on TV even less frequently than usual recently, and it turns out that he is actually out of action having suffered a concussion at the beginning on September.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reads:
“EC3 remains out of action with a concussion suffered at the end of September.”
I couldn’t have put it better myself.
It’s not as though WWE is eagerly waiting for him to be cleared, and to be honest I doubt EC3 is expecting a push when he does recover, but hopefully he returns to full health soon.
The worst thing about the whole failed push is that he could so easily have stayed in NXT for another two years and been booked properly. The main roster is so over-saturated with potential stars with no storyline that this sort of thing is starting to happen more frequently than ever.
Both Cedric Alexander and Humberto Carrillo received three-week pushes in the last couple of months and if reports are anything to go by, Vince is bored of them both and will not push them anymore.
Cheers, Vinny.
