PWInsider have today announced Ring of Honor’s acquisition of Joey Matthews. Wrestling fans will know Matthews better as one half of MNM and J&J Security, Joey Mercury.
The former WWE talent was released from the company in January 2017 and will report to ROH’s training academy as a trainer as well as serve as producer for their weekly television output and pay-per-views. Always possessing a keen eye and detailed mind for the business, Matthews is undoubtedly a coup for the brand.
As Joey Mercury, he captured the WWE Tag Team Championships with Johnny Nitro and is also a former NWA Light Heavyweight and Tag Team Champion with Christian York.
WrestleTalk would like your views on this situation. Do you think Matthews is a good fit for the indie company or should have sought employment elsewhere? You can contact us on Twitter and Discord today.
