UFC’s Cris Cyborg was recently a guest on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show to discuss her upcoming fight with Amanda Nunes. However, Helwani turned the discussion over to professional wrestling later on in the interview.
Helwani asked Cyborg if the current rumors about her fighting Ronda Rousey at WrestleMania 35 were true:
“I don’t know, I just heard this news today. If it is happening, maybe we can give all the fans the fight they’ve never seen…I think it would be great for all the fans that would like to watch but I’m not sure about that 100%, but…I’ll talk to my manager and see what’s going to be, if its a good thing or not. I don’t know. Maybe it happens, maybe not.”
Cyborg referenced this being a fight everyone wanted to see in UFC, but instead might get to see it in WWE. Helwani asked if she would be interested if the deal was right:
“Yes. It would be great. I think it would be great.”
This was then followed up by if WWE had already reached out to her:
“News coming soon. I don’t want to say too much for now.”
Cyborg went on to pay Rousey some compliments about her work in WWE. After Helwani called out the WWE to make Cyborg the right money offer, he continued to push her for more information. She just told him he asked too many questions. Her contract is up in March, but she has two fights remaining in UFC. How that plays out, remains to be seen. However, it sure sounds like WWE is trying to make this dream match happen.
