Bodyslam.net is “exclusively” reporting that Vince McMahon has refused to grant Dolph Ziggler his release from WWE despite previously agreeing to do so.
The report suggests that Dolph and Vince agreed that the former would work shows until SummerSlam, and would then be granted his release.
“On Monday prior to RAW, Dolph approached Vince McMahon to thank him, however it was then that Vince told Dolph that he could not let him out of his deal, and that he would “rather just pay him to stay home.”
Dolph had a match with the Miz on Monday night, apparently the same night his release wasn’t granted, so if true, he reconciled very quickly.
Whether he’ll appear on TV going forward isn’t clear, but if the report is accurate, then perhaps WWE are so keen on stars not going to AEW that they will literally pay them to do nothing and be fine with it.
This report is from an unknown source and should therefore be taken with a pinch of salt.
