Several New Matches Announced For AEW Revolution 2023 AEW

Several new matches are now confirmed for the March 5 AEW Revolution pay-per-view following last night’s February 15 episode of Dynamite.

The main event, which was already made official last week but last night had a graphic for the first time, which means it’s now officially officially official, is MJF defending the AEW World Championship against Bryan Danielson in a 60-minute iron-man match.

Last week saw the controversial crowning of Austin & Colten Gunn as AEW World Tag Team Champions when they beat the Acclaimed, and it was announced last night that the Gunns’ first defence will be at Revolution.

They’ll be defending against three different teams in a four-way match, one of which we know is the Acclaimed who announced they’re “invoking their rematch clause”.

One of the other two teams will be decided next week in a tag team battle royal, while the final team will be decided the following week in a Casino Tag Team Royale (Royal Rumble style rather than a standard battle royal).

The teams announced for next week’s battle royal are the Lucha Bros, The Butcher & The Blade, Jeff Jarrett & Jay Lethal, Angelo Parker & Matt Menard, Ari Daivari & Tony Nese, Best Friends, and Alex Reynolds & John Silver.

The teams for the following week’s Casino Tag Team Royale haven’t been announced yet.

Also official for Revolution is another title match with Samoa Joe defending the TNT Championship against Wardlow.

Wardlow told the story on Dynamite last night of how his father passed away due to cancer, which had taken his father’s hair, and that’s the reason Wardlow grew out his own hair into a ponytail.

Samoa Joe cut off Wardlow’s ponytail in January, so that explains why that was so significant.

And finally, also announced for Revolution was another rematch between Jon Moxley and Adam Page, this time in a Texas Death Match.

In terms of matches that weren’t made official but were teased, a House of Black graphic flashed on the screen during a backstage segment with the Elite, so that’s likely the direction for the World Trios Championship.

Dynamite went off the air with a tease for a possible Revolution match with Ruby Soho challenging Jamie Hayter for the AEW Women’s World Championship after Soho had beaten Britt Baker and Toni Storm in a three-way.

It’s possible the Revolution title match could be a three-way with Saraya added as she was also present for the standoff, and there’s always a chance Storm and/or Baker could still be added, and maybe even Hikaru Shida if she returns from injury by then.

It had also been teased in previous weeks that Adam Cole would be returning to the ring at Revolution, but although there was an interview with him this week, there was no tease of who his opponent could be.

Far from confirmed, but Christian Cage returned last night to attack Jack Perry, so that match could make it to the Revolution card, as well as some form of Chris Jericho and/or the Jericho Appreciation Society vs Ricky Starks and/or Action Andretti.

SPOILERS FOR THIS WEEK’S AEW RAMPAGE AHEAD

The main event for the February 17 episode of Rampage saw Swerve Strickland vs Dustin Rhodes end in a DQ when Parker Boudreaux attacked Rhodes, before Strickland was confronted by a returning Keith Lee, so Strickland vs Lee could well be a Revolution match as well.
