SPOILERS – Huge NXT Title Change at TV Tapings

Following yesterday’s tapings for the upcoming four episodes of NXT TV, WWE themselves released some massive news regarding a title change on next week’s show.

I don’t really know how you’ve managed to get to this point if this is the case, but IF YOU DON’T WANT TO SEE SPOILERS, STOP READING NOW.

***FINAL WARNING***

Via WWE.com:

Tommaso Ciampa defeated Aleister Black to win the NXT Championship at Wednesday night’s NXT tapings at Full Sail Live in Orlando, Fla.

With the win, Ciampa becomes the 14th Superstar in history to win the NXT Title.

See how The Blackheart prevailed against The Dutch Destroyer when their championship showdown streams on the award-winning WWE Network next Wednesday at 8/7 C.

Black won the title by beating Andrade ‘Cien’ Almas at NXT TakeOver: New Orleans, and successfully defended the championship twice (televised) before dropping it to Ciampa.

Black’s first defense came against Eric Young on the April 25 edition of NXT TV. He went on to retain only once more (televised) in his 102-day reign, which was over Lars Sullivan at TakeOver: Chicago II.

The NXT Title match for the upcoming TakeOver: Brooklyn IV was also confirmed at the tapings.

Johnny Gargano faced Aleister Black, but the bout was rendered a no contest when Ciampa ambushed both men mid-match. In the midst of a three-way brawl, General Manager William Regal came onto the stage, and made a Triple Threat NXT Championship match for TakeOver.

I, like every other sane person, am very, very excited.

We will publish a full report of the spoilers from yesterday’s taping, including the finalised TakeOver: Brooklyn IV card, on WrestleTalk.com very soon.

Are you surprised Black’s reign didn’t last longer? Do you think this means a main roster call-up after SummerSlam? How long do you think Ciampa will hold the strap for? Let us know in the comments below or on Twitter here. You can also join us on Discord to chat with Oli, Luke, the magazine team, the website writers and each other here!
