At NXT TakeOver: Portland last weekend, Tommaso Ciampa failed to recapture the NXT Championship in a hard-hitting affair with Adam Cole. His loss came after a heel turn from former best friend Johnny Gargano.
While Gargano did not appear on NXT TV last night, Tommaso Ciampa was present and looked clearly shocked after being turned on by his former tag team partner.
In a fit of rage, Tommaso Ciampa attacked one of NXT’s brightest stars, Austin Theory. It was later confirmed that Theory and Ciampa will go one-on-one on next week’s episode of NXT TV.
Former EVOLVE Champion Austin Theory certainly has a bright future, as shown in his match with Roderick Strong on NXT a few months ago. Good showings against top NXT stars will certainly help put Theory on the map.
Also confirmed for next week’s NXT is the Full Sail return of former Universal Champion Finn Balor. This comes after Balor defeated the aforementioned Johnny Gargano at NXT TakeOver: Portland.

With just six episodes of NXT left before NXT TakeOver: Tampa, I’m sure Balor’s appearance next week will give us an indication on what the Irishman is going to be doing next.
