Shane McMahon was recently ‘quietly let go’ from WWE following the 2022 Royal Rumble event, where he received a lot of backstage heat for trying to book the match around himself and arguing with producers and other talent backstage.
Ever since Shane’s sudden departure, people have been jokingly discussing the possibility of Shane showing up in AEW. Tony Khan recently spoke to Sports Illustrated, where he spoke about the possibility of Shane McMahon joining AEW. Khan admitted that he doesn’t know if Shane would be a good fit in the company, but he would welcome the conversation should Shane reach out to him.
He said:
“I’d certainly take the call. I’m sure he’d be an interesting person to talk to about wrestling. I’m not sure exactly if he would be a fit. I have not heard from him, and I don’t expect to hear from him, but in this business, you never know.”
AEW recently added Keith Lee and AQA to their roster, with Jay White showing up on Dynamite through the ‘Forbidden Door’. For a list of the full AEW roster, click here.
