It was rumoured and speculated this week that NXT Champion Adam Cole has yet to sign a new contract with WWE. It was originally believed that his deal was set to expire in August 2020, and many online speculated that the Undisputed Era member may be on his way to AEW.
Rajah has since rebuffed this report, noting that Cole signed a new NXT contract last year and will not be moving to AEW this year. WrestleTalk’s Louis Dangoor has also been able to independently corroborate Rajah’s report.
Here’s what Rajah had to say on the matter:
“In an update to a recent headline that indicated that Adam Cole’s contract is set to expire this summer and that he hasn’t come to any agreement with WWE on a new deal with the possibility that he might jump to AEW, this report is actually false. I heard from multiple sources that Cole actually signed a three-year contract with WWE sometime last year, meaning he is going to be with the company for at least another two years and isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.”
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful.com reported back in February that several NXT stars were offered new contracts with significant pay rises when NXT moved to the USA Network in September 2019, so it is quite likely that NXT Champion Adam Cole was on that list.
