WrestleMania 39 is now just over a week away, and the card is now effectively all announced.

One match that is still yet to be announced for the show is the highly anticipated clash between soon-to-be WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio and his son Dominik Mysterio.

The feud between Rey and his son started back at Clash at the Castle in Cardiff, when Dominik betrayed both his father and Edge to join the Judgment Day.

The feud with his son has seemingly changed the course of Rey’s career, per WrestleVotes speaking with GiveMeSport.

WrestleVotes noted that, at one point, it was discussed that Rey would retire at this year’s WrestleMania show in Los Angeles, but now, even with his impending Hall of Fame induction, this likely won’t be his final match.

They said:

“At one point, it was discussed that Rey Mysterio was going to retire at WrestleMania. But I don’t think next weekend is his last match, regardless of the Hall of Fame.”

Furthermore, it was noted that Rey’s ongoing feud with his son effectively ‘reinvigorated’ the SmackDow star.

They added:

“This storyline kind of reinvigorated him a little bit. So I don’t know if he agreed to do another full year, let’s say and retire at 40. I don’t know if he’s going to drag this out with Dom until they feel like it’s complete.”

The entire Mysterio family is set to appear on this week’s SmackDown show amid Dominik’s attempts to bait his father into a WrestleMania match.
