Triple H Makes Big Change To Vince McMahon WWE Rule

Triple H Makes Big Change To Vince McMahon WWE Rule WWE

WWE Chief Content Officer has made a big change to a Vince McMahon rule he used to follow during his time in charge.

During the Vince McMahon regime, it was rare to hear references to other promotions by name.

Not only are other companies more often mentioned on WWE TV with Triple H running creative, WWE works with more promotions too.

An interesting interpromotional appearance has now been announced, with Shayna Baszler set to compete at Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport X on April 4, during WrestleMania 40 week.

While Baszler appears to be the perfect fit for Bloodsport, a show which hosts matches in rings with no ropes with victory achieved through submission or KO, many were surprised that WWE was willing to let another company use one of their stars during WrestleMania 40 week.

Per Dave Meltzer in a Wrestling Observer Daily Update, the decision was made by Triple H (Paul Levesque).

Noting that Triple H has a different view on cross promotion to Vince McMahon, Meltzer wrote:

Regarding Shayna Baszler at Bloodsport and other WWE talent doing indie dates that week, we were told it was a Paul Levesque decision and that Paul Levesque has a different view on these things than Vince McMahon had.

WWE has been involved in several cross-promotional partnerships already this year, with the company sending NXT star Charlie Dempsey for a short tour in All-Japan Pro Wrestling in January which culminated with him challenging for Katsuhiko Nakajima’s AJPW Triple Crown Championship.

TNA Knockouts Champion Jordynne Grace notably appeared year’s women’s Royal Rumble match, competing in the bout for over 19 minutes.

Despite these cross-promotional partnerships, Triple H does not want the term ‘forbidden door’ to be associated with WWE. Triple H previously threw shade on this term, click here to read more.

A former WWE star has teased his return following WWE’s latest interpromotional announcement, which you can read more about right here.
