And the main roster is seemingly at it again with its greediness of bringing up NXT Champions.
Earlier this year, we saw both the NXT Tag Team Champions the Viking Raiders and NXT Champion Tommaso Ciampa make main roster debuts while still champions in the developmental brand, and it looks like it might happen again.
According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, both NXT Champion Adam Cole and Women’s Champion Shayna Baszler are in line to be called up in the near future.
He noted that they are particularly keen on Women’s Champion Baszler, who retained her title against Io Shirai on Saturday (June 1) at NXT TakeOver: XXV.
According to Meltzer, WWE feels as though she has everything they’re looking for, from her age, to her look and aura. She is “supposed to be geared” up for a main roster call up very soon.
When this happens we don’t know, but Adam Cole has already appeared in a Royal Rumble and a number of NXT stars are rumoured for the 50-man Battle Royal at the Super Showdown this Friday (June 7).
The most likely time would seemingly be the night after SummerSlam in August, given that WWE loves a nice debut the night after its big shows.
We will keep you updated with any developments.
