Undertaker Reveals He Left WCW To Get Out Of Wrestling Someone

Leaving WCW for WWE is probably the best decision The Undertaker ever made. While he was headed nowhere in World Championship Wrestling, his career quickly took off once being given his iconic character in WWE.

Now, we know one of the reasons why he chose to leave WCW in the first place. On a recent episode of After the Bell with Corey Graves, Undertaker revealed that one of the reasons he left WCW was to get out of wrestling Giant Gonzales, then known as El Gigante. Here is the full quote where he talks about how he wanted to wrestle Yokozuna in WWE, courtesy of Fightful:

“I’m looking through the curtain and I say, ‘Vince, please, I’m begging you, let me work with him first.’ Vince laughed, ‘You’ll work with him, but I’ve got something else in mind for you right now.’ I kid you not, coming down from the hall from the far end of the stage is Giant Gonzalez. ‘That’s what I’ve got in store for you.’ That’s another one of the reasons I left WCW, they wanted me to work with him. I’m like, ‘Please.’ Lex [Luger] got Yoko first, I got Giant Gonzalez, the rest is history.”

How frustrated would you be if you left WCW to get away from Giant Gonzales only for him to follow you to WWE. The Undertaker would infamously wrestle the colossal Gonzales in 1993 at WrestleMania and SummerSlam. Those matches were a whole lot of not good.
