Shawn Michaels has announced a new match for the July 11 edition of NXT TV, which will have big implications for the main event of NXT Great American Bash.
On Tuesday’s show, Ilja Dragunov will face off against Bron Breakker in singles action.
The winner of this match will challenge for Carmelo Hayes’ NXT Championship at NXT Great American Bash on July 30.
Shawn Michaels tweeted:
Following their brawl on @WWENXT this week, @UNBESIEGBAR_ZAR will take on @bronbreakkerwwe next Tuesday with the winner challenging @Carmelo_WWE for the NXT Championship at the Great American Bash. #WWENXT
As referenced by Michaels, this match announcement comes after Ilja Dragunov confronted Breakker on the July 4 episode.
Dragunov stated that Breakker was the only person standing between him and an NXT Title match, before the two stars brawled at ringside.
Carmelo Hayes has been the NXT Champion since defeating Breakker for the gold at NXT Stand & Deliver in April.
He most recently defended the gold against Baron Corbin on the June 27 NXT Gold Rush show.
