Over the past week, there has been a lot of discussion about Vince McMahon’s role in WWE creative.
Vince reportedly made major changes to the opening of the show, which included scrapping Seth Rollins’ World Heavyweight Championship Open Challenge, which was to be accepted by Tommaso Ciampa, in favour of an angle involving Rollins and Finn Balor.
Last Friday, McMahon made many last minute changes to the script, which included scrapping matches that were already announced for the show, which led to a lot of frustration backstage among talent and staff.
In an update from PWInsider, tonight’s episode of Raw (June 26) is also likely to have a lot of ‘Vince McMahon fingerprints’ on the show.
While Vince has only been remotely influencing WWE creative since the night after WrestleMania 39, the belief among those in the company that spoke to PWInsider is that his influence is likely to grow in the coming weeks and months as the Endeavor deal and merger with UFC becomes reality.
Vince is not present backstage at tonight’s Raw show in Georgia, and has only been present at one Raw show since the night after WrestleMania 39, which was two weeks ago in Hartford, Connecticut, which is located near WWE headquarters.
Tonight’s show is set to feature a Women’s Money In The Bank summit, as well as Ronda Rousey facing off with Raquel Rodriguez.
It was reported that WWE is planning ways to prevent Vince McMahon from making last minute script changes like he did this past Friday.
