A wrestler has revealed the true story behind CM Punk ‘burying’ Eddie Kingston years ago, which Kingston mentioned on AEW Rampage last week.
During their promo last week, Kingston claimed that Punk “judged” him when he first emerged on the scene, and a big part of that promo being a success was that it felt real.
Well, the reason it felt real is probably because it was. An unnamed wrestler told the Wrestling Observer:
“I can fully vouch for Eddie’s promo on Punk the other night. I was sitting right there in an IWA Mid South locker room when Punk called Eddie and his partner at the time, Blackjack Marciano, fat, lazy and unsafe. Marciano had just accidentally injured Delirious in a previous match and Punk was hot about it, so just buried them nonstop. I could see why Eddie hung onto that hate and anger for so long.”
CM Punk and Kingston are set for a match at Full Gear tomorrow night (November 13), and although the build was short, that one segment instantly made it probably the second-most anticipated match on the card behind Kenny Omega vs Adam Page.
