According to the USPTO, WWE has filed trademarks for variations of a phrase seemingly related to WWE Official Adam Pearce.
On November 12, WWE filed to trademark ‘SCRAPP METEL’, ‘SCRAPP METAL’, ‘SCRAPP METTAL’, ‘SCRAPP METTAL’ and ‘SCRAPP METAL’.
The following description, for ‘entertainment services’ accompanied each filing:
trademark registration is intended to cover the categories of
It has been theorised that these trademarks could be related to Adam Pearce, who has used the nicknames ‘Scrap Daddy’ and ‘Scrap Iron’ in the past. Pearce filed to trademark ‘Scrap Iron’ last month, suggesting he has plans for the moniker.
In recent weeks, the WWE Official has altered the Raw men’s Survivor Series team, removing Dominik and Rey Mysterio and replacing them with Austin Theory and Bobby Lashley.
There has been speculation that Adam Pearce will lead an ‘Authority’ style faction soon, which could be introduced as (a variant of) ‘Scrap Metal’.
NXT talent Von Wagner was by Pearce’s side on the latest episode of SmackDown, so if a faction of sorts does debut, that could have signified the start of it.
If there is a Pearce-led group on the way, it would seemingly play into the storyline that he’s scared of Brock Lesnar, who Pearce has suspended and fined on SmackDown in recent weeks, with the idea that he’s hiring protection in the form of Wagner (and whoever else may end up joining the ranks).
It’s worth mentioning that this is all just theories and speculation at this point based on the timing and the signs mentioned above, and the trademark could end up being for something completely different.
