Former WWE Stars Share Interesting Tease After AEW Debut

Zack Gibson and James Drake of the Grizzled Young Veterans have commented on their AEW debut, teasing their returns to the company.

The former WWE NXT UK Tag Team Champions were in action on Saturday’s (April 27) edition of AEW Collision.

Gibson and Drake lost in their AEW debut, coming up short against Anthony Bowens and Max Caster of The Acclaimed.

During a digital exclusive interview following their match, James Drake stated that Saturday won’t be the last time that he and Gibson will be in an AEW ring.

The duo noted:

Gibson: “Do we look like we want an interview right now, are you ill? We are Grizzled Young Veterans. Any man and their dogs that were watching that match know the better team lost.

“The only solitary reason we lost the match was because of Billy Gunn, a man that wasn’t even supposed to be out there. We have conquered all of Europe and we’re never going to stop.”

Drake: “So The Acclaimed, Billy Gunn, in fact, the whole AEW roster, this isn’t the last time you’re gonna see the GYV. So remember this, when you see us coming, grit your teeth.”

Drake and Gibson have been free agents since leaving WWE in October 2023. They mostly wrestled on NXT UK and NXT TV during their WWE stints, with the duo holding the NXT UK Tag Team Title in 2019, and Zack Gibson notably winning the 2018 WWE UK Championship Tournament.
