Cody Rhodes Reveals How WWE Backlash Main Event Will Make History WWE

Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes has pointed out that a WWE name will make history at Saturday’s (May 4) Backlash premium live event.

This weekend’s show will be headlined by a first time ever match, with Cody Rhodes set to defend his title against AJ Styles.

Rhodes has now taken to social media to note that this match will be significant for more than it being the first singles bout between Rhodes and Styles.

The American Nightmare confirmed that Jessika Carr will be the official for this title match.

Stating that Carr will be the first woman to officiate an Undisputed WWE Title match in the main event of a premium live event, Rhodes said:

Wanted to mention this after the contract signing, (and forgive me if I’m wrong but I don’t think I am…)

It’ll also be the VERY FIRST PLE Main Event for The Undisputed @WWE Title officiated by a woman @WWELadyRefJess

Rhodes won the Undisputed WWE Championship from Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40, ending Reigns’ 1316 day run as champion.

An update has emerged on WWE’s plans for Rhodes’ title reign, which you can read more about right here.
