WWE Celebrates Randy Orton Breaking Massive Record

WWE has taken to its official website to celebrate and issue a statement on Randy Orton breaking a massive record last night.

Orton has now had more pay-per-view matches than anyone else in WWE history after last night’s Survivor Series event, with 177 matches.

WWE.com writes:

Randy Orton cemented himself in WWE history tonight at Survivor Series, setting the record for most pay-per-view matches by any WWE Superstar, as he and fellow Raw Tag Team Champion Riddle defeated SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Usos. The Viper made his first pay-per-view appearance at SummerSlam in 2003, and in honor of his achievement, WWE Superstars took to Twitter to congratulate Orton.

WWE then showcased tweets from Kane (who was previously tied with Orton at 176 pay-per-view matches), John Cena, Wade Barrett, Natalya and the Usos, but there were plenty more who have congratulated him on social media throughout the past couple of days.

The top five most pay-per-view matches in WWE history belong to (via News18):

  1. Randy Orton (177)
  2. Kane (176)
  3. Undertaker (174)
  4. Triple H (173)
  5. John Cena (163)

Orton also pointed out on Twitter that the next match he has on an episode of Raw will break the record for most Raw matches.

We once again congratulate Orton on these achievements and hopefully there are still plenty more to come.
