Despite both Roman Reigns and Sami Zayn pulling out of TV tapings for the foreseeable future due to Coronavirus, WWE has rarely mentioned COVID-19 on any of their programming. While WWE hasn’t really given reasons for why guys like Roman and Sami aren’t on TV, and likely won’t be for a number of months.
Well, WWE is now stating that Sami Zayn isn’t on TV because he is injured. However, we now that isn’t the case, and that he instead refused to work any of the tapings while the Coronavirus pandemic was going on, which is totally understandable. Previously, WWE said that Zayn had been “unable to compete”, but had not stated why.
Due to Zayn pulling out of the TV tapings, WWE were forced to strip him of the Intercontinental Championship, with a tournament being set up to crown a new champion. In the two first-round matches last week, Daniel Bryan and Elias advanced after defeating Drew Gulak and King Corbin respectively.
On this week’s show, we are going to see Jeff Hardy and Sheamus finally go one-on-one, as well as a mouth-watering clash between Shinsuke Nakamura and his long-time rival, Raw star AJ Styles.
Speaking of pulling out of TV tapings, it has emerged that a former WWE Champion also considered not working the shows, especially considering his wife is pregnant with the pair’s second child.
