There are reportedly people in WWE crediting NXT star Tiffany Stratton for the boost in ratings for this past Tuesday’s show.
The show was hyped as the Spring Breakin’ special and featured both an NXT Championship match between Grayson Waller and champion Carmelo Hayes, and an NXT Women’s Championship three-way with Indi Hartwell defending against Stratton and Roxanne Perez.
The show drew 647,000 viewers, which was an increase of 82,000 from the previous week, as well as a 0.18 rating in the 18-49 demo, up from the prior week’s 0.14.
The boost was even more surprising considering the show was up against big competition from the NHL and the NBA.
During Raw on Monday, several commercials aired advertising NXT the next night, the star of those commercials being Tiffany Stratton.
According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, people in WWE believe those commercials and Stratton in particular played a large part in the ratings going up.
He said:
“That Spring Breakin’ thing worked.
“I know people in the company that believe that the Tiffany Stratton commercials on Raw were very big. Especially because the male viewers were up I believe 55% from the week before, while women viewers were down. So big, big gains with men but not with women.
“Even though the competition (on Tuesday night) would lead you to believe it would be otherwise because obviously the NHL and NBA, they had big games, lots of competition, those draw predominantly male audiences.”

Meltzer also suggested a dip in viewers of FOX news likely also played a factor.
Stratton was unsuccessful in challenging for the NXT Women’s Championship as Hartwell retained.
Despite Hartwell suffering a legitimate injury during the match and having to be taken to the medical team backstage, she came back out to end the match with the planned finish of her retaining.
There’s a belief that if Hartwell wasn’t able to make it back out, plans would have changed to Stratton winning the title, but Hartwell was the original plan.
Stratton recently admitted in an interview that she’d prefer to stay in NXT to continue developing rather than being called up to the main roster in upcoming WWE Draft.
