WWE Lists Five BIG Potential WrestleMania 36 Matches

WWE has released a video in their WWE List This series listing five potential matches for WrestleMania 36. While these may or may not end up on next year’s Mania card, WWE has foreshadowed WrestleMania matches like this in the past.

The five matches listed in the video are Roman Reigns vs. The Rock, Brock Lesnar vs. Matt Riddle, John Cena vs. The Velveteen Dream, the WWE Four Horsewomen vs. the MMA Four Horsewomen, and Finn Balor competing for the Universal Championship.

There is some legitimacy to these matches. Matt Riddle has consistently expressed a desire to wrestle Brock Lesnar and both men share a UFC background. While Riddle is currently competing in NXT, he could see a call up in time to face Lesnar at WrestleMania 36.

Meanwhile, the Four Horsewomen vs. Four Horsewomen match has been talked about ever since Ronda Rousey debuted in WWE. Shayna Baszler, Marina Shafir, and Jessamyn Duke are all currently on the NXT roster, meaning they would likely need a call-up before the match could take place. Sasha Banks is currently embroiled in controversy as reports state that she threw a tantrum over losing the WWE Women’s Tag Team titles at WrestleMania 35.

Roman Reigns and The Rock have been linked for years in WWE. As the two share a lineage, The Rock came to the aid of Reigns at the 2015 Royal Rumble. More recently, Reigns filmed a small role in The Rock’s upcoming blockbuster Hobbs & Shaw. The match makes a lot of sense and would be a big money match for a big show.

Velveteen Dream has been lobbying for a call-up to the main roster for months. His work in NXT has given him a huge following and he could be in line for a major push upon his main roster debut. A match with John Cena at WrestleMania 36 would fit the bill.

Finn Balor became the first WWE Universal Champion at SummerSlam in 2016 before relinquishing the title the next night due to injury. While he has had a handful of opportunities to regain the title, they have all proven unsuccessful. He moved to SmackDown in the Superstar Shakeup so challenging for the title in the next year seems unlikely.

WrestleMania 36 will take place in Tampa, Florida on April 5th, 2020.
