WWE Star’s Reaction To Scrapped WrestleMania Title Match Plans WWE

Montez Ford’s reaction to scrapped WWE WrestleMania 37 plans that saw a tag team title match shifted to SmackDown has been revealed.

Bianca Belair, the wife of Ford, made the revelation during a recent interview on the MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani podcast.

The match would actually take place on the April 9, 2021, episode of WWE SmackDown and see The Dirty Dawgs (Dolph Ziggler & Robert Roode) defend the WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championship against Chad Gable & Otis, Rey & Dominik Mysterio and The Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins & Montez Ford).

Speaking on the original plans for the match to take place at WrestleMania 37, Belair revealed:

“In the past, people don’t know this, but WrestleMania 37, he was supposed to have a WrestleMania match.

“He got gear made, he had family coming in. Things change all the time, his match ended up getting moved to the night before on SmackDown.

“He had every right to feel devastated and be down. He could have walked around like he had a cloud over his head, but the very next day, I was main eventing WrestleMania.

“That’s the balance where he chose to be a husband that night and be happy for me and proud of me and celebrate me instead of being a worker and being frustrated about his situation. That can be very difficult to do.”

Belair would main event night one of WrestleMania 37 and would defeat Sasha Banks to become the WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion.

The Street Profits held the WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championship from October 12, 2020, to January 8, 2021 where they would lose them to Ziggler & Roode who would subsequently lose the belts at WrestleMania Backlash in May 2021 to the team of Rey & Dominik Mysterio.

Dawkins and Ford have also been WWE Raw and NXT Tag Team Champions, becoming the second WWE Tag Team Triple Crown Champions.

As for WrestleMania 40, a recent report has stated that Cody Rhodes vs Roman Reigns will not headline the event in April 2024.

A follow up to that report, stated that WWE insiders were not happy with the “set in stone” nature of the story.
