WWE Star Reflects On Legacy Of Cancelled Brand WWE

It’s been over a year since WWE NXT UK went on hiatus and Brooks Jensen has reflected on the ‘insane talent’ of the brand.

Along with Josh Briggs, Jensen was the final NXT UK Tag Team Champion having been sent to the brand after returning from injury.

In an interview on The Scoop Slammed Podcast, Jensen discussed how he sees NXT UK being seen in the future, saying:

“Someone said a while back that five to ten years from now, when you watch “NXT UK,” it’s going to be one of those ‘Man, we should’ve appreciated it while we had it’ — the talent that came from there was insane.

“Once I came off the injury we got the green light that were gonna go to “NXT UK,” be there for a couple of months, get to train in their facility, which I was looking forward to most because I respect the UK style of wrestling.”

Discussing their run as NXT UK Tag Team Championships, Jensen revealed Shawn Michaels’ involvement, stating:

“I think it was Shawn Michaels’ idea to put the tag belts on us and to bring ’em over here and do something with them. [To] give us some recognition and go back over there and defend them.”

The NXT UK Tag Team Championship was unified at Worlds Collide in September 2022 with Pretty Deadly defeating NXT Tag Team Champions The Creed Brothers, Jensen & Briggs and Gallus (Mark Coffey & Wolfgang).

The closure of NXT UK heralded plans for the introduction of NXT Europe with 2024 now being reported as the target launch date.

Before he signed with AEW, it was reported that NXT Europe could have been built around Will Ospreay.
