WWE Debuting New Show Update WWE

Shawn Michaels has addressed the current state of plans for WWE NXT Europe during the NXT Deadline media call.

WWE NXT Europe was announced in August 2022 following the closure of NXT UK.

Originally, it was planned to launch in 2023, with Dave Meltzer later claiming that the target had become 2024.

Meltzer had also recently stated that there were discussions that NXT Europe could be built around Will Ospreay when WWE were trying to attract him.

Ospreay would sign with AEW in November 2023, joining the company when his NJPW contract ends in early 2024.

In the media call for NXT Deadline, Shawn Michaels spoke about the vision for NXT Europe, saying that WWE is still firmly behind plans for the brand.

There were, however, no confirmed plans for upcoming shows, nor have there been an indications as to how its roster will look.

Having previously described the project as being in the “organizational stage“, Michaels would say that developments are still in progress.

He would also note that events such as the May 4 Backlash in France and August 31 Bash in Berlin demonstrates WWE’s commitment to running events in Europe.

The upcoming Bash in Berlin marks the first major WWE PLE to take place Germany, and Backlash will be the first in France.

WWE Backlash on May 4 will be the second time in two years that event has taken place outside of the United States, with last year’s having been held in Puerto Rico.
