The Rock Shares MMA Training Footage Amid WWE Hiatus WWE/The Rock

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has shared a new video sharing a look at his MMA-style training for a new project amid his WWE hiatus.

With The Rock stepping away from WWE TV following WrestleMania 40, there has been a lot of speculation about his next move in wrestling.

The Rock has been involved with several projects during his WWE hiatus, but is now in training for what could be his most physical movie role.

The Final Boss recently noted that he would soon be entering an MMA training camp ahead of starring in the upcoming A24 movie The Smashing Machine.

In the biopic, directed by Benny Safdie, The Rock will play early UFC star Mark Kerr.

The Rock has now taken to Instagram to share a minute-long video of himself training for the movie.

In the video, which you can watch below, The Rock performs several sequences using MMA holds, while receiving direction.

Opening up about his first day of training, The Rock captioned the post:

Day 1. MMA training camp. Preparing for “Smashing Machine”

I’m learning daily and it’s been a very humbling, intense and motivating journey into this world of combat and becoming, Mark Kerr – the two-time @UFC Heavyweight Tournament Champion, World Vale Tudo Champion.

I’m a hard worker, but I realized that I’d have to work harder with this role than anything I’ve ever worked for in my life. This physicality is just one part of the larger journey, that is truly a team effort.

Growing and grateful. Day 1. #TrainingCamp #SmashingMachine Written & Directed by Benny Safdie • @bowedtie A24

Ahead of The Rock stepping back from WWE TV, the Great One had an intriguing interaction with Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes on the April 8 edition of Raw.

Cody Rhodes has now dropped an interesting tease surrounding his feud with The Rock, which you can read more about right here.
