WWE Considering Big PLE Presentation Changes WWE

WWE may be changing an aspect of its Premium Live Events presentation to allow “live, high-energy, free-flowing discussion”.

The kickoff shows that take place before PLEs have typically been a method of attracting audiences to the event itself, with recaps and roundtable discussions along with the odd match here and there.

According to PWInsider Elite (via Cultaholic), changes are potentially coming to the format with Mike Johnson stating:

“We are also told that you can probably expect as we get deeper into the year for some changes to the kickoff show formats.

“I’m told they want to look at ESPN’s College GameDay as something of a blueprint. To have more of a live, high-energy, free-flowing discussion about the big shows that are taking place later that day and some of the big matches.

“They are working on some format changes.”

The changes would come under the tenure of Lee Fitting who joined WWE in January 2024, replacing Kevin Dunn.

Fitting serves as WWE Head of Media & Production and worked for ESPN for more than 25 years before being let go in August 2023.

His job title with ESPN was Senior Vice President of Production where he oversaw production for Monday Night Football, College GameDay, the College Football Playoff, and more.

Fitting’s influence has seen changes to the presentation of WWE Raw and SmackDown, including making them “feel more like a sports show.”

At the time of writing, there’s no indication as to when these changes, if they come to fruition, would take effect.
