WWE Promises SummerSlam Will Finish Early

Ever since the announcement that WWE would be running SummerSlam in Las Vegas on the same night as the Pacquiao vs Spence Jr boxing match, people have been wondering how the event would fare.

We appear to have our answer per the Wrestling Observer, as WWE will be ending SummerSlam early to accommodate fans who will be travelling to the fight. Dave Meltzer writes:

Different WWE sources have said that WWE has promised key people in Las Vegas that the show would end early in order to give people time to get to the Manny Pacquiao vs. Errol Spence Jr., fight. We were also told this directly from WWE. One source listed 11 p.m. Eastern (8 p.m. local time) as the promised end time for the show and another said 11:30 p.m., but the idea was Pacquiao-Spence would start at around midnight and even though the two buildings are 1.4 miles apart, the traffic would be insane on a Saturday night on the strip at that time and they promised fans at their show would be able to get into the arena for the boxing match by the time the ring introductions for the main event took place. Three hours is okay, probably even preferable, for a regular monthly show, but it is on the short side for one of the three big events of the year.

WWE SummerSlam 2021 streams live on the WWE Network or Peacock in the United States on Satuday, August 21, 2021.
