During the June 5 edition of WWE SmackDown, Michael Cole and Corey Graves provided a status update on Elias. The update doesn’t sound great.
It was announced that Elias tore his pectoral muscle and has broken ribs as a result of the hit and run from last week. They said he would be out for a couple of months.

At this time, there is no word on if Elias has legitimate injuries or if he is missing time for other reasons. However, it looks like Elias won’t be on television for a while.
Elias certainly hasn’t been having the same success as a face recently as he did when he was having his heel run in previous years.
While injuries are not something anyone wants to deal with, the break could be a good thing. Elias could use the break and return as a heel.
He could come back with a mission to take out Jeff Hardy or whoever turns out to be the one who attacked him.
However, since no actual injuries have been confirmed at this time, Elias could show up at any time. We’ve seen some recent storylines where injuries were seemingly works.
