WWE referee ‘unaware’ of Liv Morgan injury

Liv Morgan suffered a concussion after being knocked out by two misplaced Brie Bella kicks on Monday’s episode of Raw.

Opinions have flooded in, with some supporting Brie, labelling it as an honest mistake, to others calling her a dangerous performer who shouldn’t be in the ring.

However, the one opinion we haven’t had is that of WWE themselves. Other than a brief statement to confirm Morgan had indeed suffered a concussion, the company has been silent.

However, speaking on F4 Daily’s audio update, Brian Alvarez discussed what he had heard from WWE in regards to their side of the story.

“Here’s the WWE side of the story, so they’re in the ring and Brie starts firing kicks. She hits 1,2,3,4,5,6 kicks. Get the Yes Chants going. Looking at the corner while she’s throwing kicks.which is problem number 1 that’s how this whole thing started.

“Like I think a lot of people have pointed out that there is a much smaller target when you’re trying to do Yes Kicks on a woman. You don’t want to kick them in the boobs. You don’t want to kick them in the head, unlike a dude where you can kick them from the bottom of the sternum up.

“So she’s gotta be paying attention to her, that’s number 1. So she’s looking at the corner, she throw a kick it hits Liv and the belief is she got knocked out on that first kick. She starts to fall forward and gets hit a second time. Which by the way is exceedingly dangerous to get hit a second time after that first time.

“She goes down now god bless the guy. I don’t want the guy to be fired. But I do and this goes for every referee that works for WWE. The story is the ref had no clue that Liv Morgan was unconscious.”

If true, this would indicate a serious lack of awareness from the referee, whose main job other than counting the three at the end of the match, is to ensure the well-being and safety of everyone in the ring.

If it is true however, it would explain why the referee allowed Morgan to re-enter the ring to take a suplex. Brie Bella can be heard telling the other competitors in the match “she’s out”, something the referee appears not to have heard.

WWE doctor Chris Amman eventually came down to the ring to tend to Morgan and the match became a 3 on 2 handicap match.

Mostly, we’re just glad that someone did realise Liv was badly injured and she was removed from the match sooner rather than later. No word has yet been released regarding her condition.
