Released WWE Star Shares Update On Wrestling Future WWE

A released WWE star has shared an update on their wrestling future now that they are officially a free agent.

Many of those released by WWE in the most recent batch of talent cuts in September 2023 have begun making their next moves outside the company.

Stars such as Dolph Ziggler, Mustafa Ali and Matt Riddle have all made significant noise since their non-compete periods wrapped up in late December; however, the same cannot be said for Shelton Benjamin.

Long regarded by fans as one of WWE’s most underutilised stars across their two different spells in the company, Benjamin is a name many anticipated to flourish elsewhere despite seemingly coming towards the twilight of his career at 48-years-old.

Attempting to share an update with fans as to what to perhaps expect in the future, Benjamin appeared on The Kurt Angle Show podcast and revealed that he’s had interest, but is still “weighing” his options up before committing to anything.

Benjamin said:

“To be honest, I don’t know. I’m still weighing options. I’ve had a knock on my door here and there.

I have no commitments, nothing major to announce aside from a few indie dates and a lot of autograph sessions. I’ve been taking my time on deciding what I want to do next.”

“I am at a point in my career where I want to have fun. If it’s not worth it, I want to have fun and make money, if it’s not worth it, I just don’t want to do it.

“I’m not trying to build a name, I have a name, but I want to be where I’m appreciated and featured and can have some fun.”

“I’ve never had the superstar complex where, ‘I have to do this.’ No, January 10 marked 24 years in the business for me and I’ve been extremely fortunate with injuries and family life that I can still go out and tear it up with the best of them. I’m just not sure where that’s going to be at this point. I’m taking temperatures all over the place.”

Benjamin’s last match came on the September 11 edition of WWE Main Event, where he teamed with former Hurt Business stable-mate Cedric Alexander against The Viking Raiders.

While we eagerly await Benjamin’s next move, we have now learned a spoiler on another former WWE star making their debut in TNA Wrestling; click here for full details.
