Former WWE Star Announces Return From Major Injury WWE

Former WWE Tag Team Champion René Duprée is making his return to wrestling following a neck injury.

Duprée joined WWE in 2002 and was the youngest wrestler to sign with the company at the time.

He would make his main roster debut in April 2003 and go on to become both a WWE Tag Team Champion and WWE World Tag Team Champion.

He would be released from WWE in July 2007 at his own request and would head to the independent wrestling circuit, primarily in Japan.

From 2020, he was working for Pro Wrestling Noah becoming one-half of the GHC Tag Team Championships with El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr before dropping the belts in May 2022 to Michael Elgin and Masa Kitamiya.

HIs last match took place in July 2022 at NOAH Destination 2022, but now he’s back for a return.

Speaking on his own YouTube Channel, Duprée revealed:

“My name is René Duprée and in 2022 while touring Japan I suffered a major neck injury.

“And after doctors looked at X-rays they highly recommended that I think twice before I ever stepped foot in the squared circle ever again.

“Do you know… I thought once, I thought twice and the French Phenom is back.

“Over the past year, I’ve been looking at American television and I’m realizing that I’m better than each and every one of those contenders on TV.

“I’m not gonna flush 26 years down the toilet for a stupid neck injury.

“I got clearance to re-enter the United States, ladies and gentlemen –  so what better place to start than the same place that I started 26 years ago, right here in Fredericton, New Brunswick.

“So, CCW, on August 26, I want your biggest, I want your baddest because the French Phenom is back and I got something to prove and that’s to fulfill my destiny.”

Duprée’s return match takes place at Capital Clash XIII on August 26, 2023, at Capital Winter Club in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada.
