WWE Star Thought The Rock Was Going To Return At WrestleMania 39 WWE

A current WWE NXT star has admitted that they thought that Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson was going to return to the ring at WrestleMania 39.

It was reported mid-2022 that WWE had Roman Reigns vs The Rock pencilled in for the April 2023 event, on the condition that The Rock’s schedule would allow for him to train for an in-ring return.

This ultimately didn’t happen, with The Rock reportedly expressing to WWE closer to the event that he didn’t have enough time to get into ‘ring shape.’

Reigns still headlined WrestleMania 39 Sunday, defeating Cody Rhodes to retain his WWE Undisputed Universal Championship.

Speaking on Sportskeeda’s WrestleBinge podcast, Perez noted that she was expecting the Great One to be in action at this year’s WrestleMania:

“I thought so, I thought this past WrestleMania, but that didn’t happen, but who knows, maybe next year, I don’t know,”

The former NXT Women’s Champion recently named The Rock as her dream tag-team partner for a big potential tag match.

SmackDown star Grayson Waller has now called The Rock out ahead of SummerSlam on August 5, issuing an ‘open invitation’ to the WWE legend to appear on his The Grayson Waller Effect show.

Perez will be in action at Sunday’s (July 30) NXT The Great American Bash event, facing off against Blair Davenport in a ‘Weapons Wild’ match.
