WWE SmackDown Live Preview, July 3, 2018 – WrestleTalk

I just remembered that we’re getting Asuka vs James Ellsworth tonight on SmackDown Live and I don’t know what I want anymore.

Imagine if he wins…

Or what if they form an unlikely tag team following a whirlwind romance? We could have Total Ellsworth on the WWE Network! The possibilities are endless.

Speaking of possibilities, what could possibly be next for the newly reformed Team Hell No? Kane shocked the world by returning to reunite with Daniel Bryan last week, and have been given a shot at the Bludgeon Brothers’ tag titles at Extreme Rules.

As Raw splurged all of its stipulations at once last night, you’d expect SmackDown Live to do the same this evening. There are no obvious stipulations for the tag title match, expect perhaps a hammer inferno underdog beard match…but that’s too obvious.

And speaking of titles, to celebrate US Independence, Jeff Hardy is going to fight someone…because that’s what independence is all about.

He’ll be putting his US Title on the line in an Independence day open challenge. Unfortunately, SmackDown Live’s only fit, not counting people eaten by dogs, foreign heel that hates America is a bit tied up with AJ Styles at the moment, so it’s difficult to see who it will be…unless Killian Dane and Alexander Wolfe count I suppose?

No wait, it’s gonna Lana.

And speaking of Lana, her hubby;s bodyguard will be taking on Aiden English to build to his match with Rusev at Extreme Rules. Again, no word on a stipulation, but it’ll probably be…you guessed it…ph-BULGARIAN.

The Rest

  • Becky Lynch faces Peyton Royce in a match originally scheduled for last week. Will she win again and condemn the IIconics to their 700th loss in a row?
  • The New Day are doing something unspeakable with pancakes to celebrate Independence Day. Wrestling.

Who will win between Asuka and Ellsworth? Let us know in the comments or on Twitter here.
