Following his main event match at WWE Backlash, top star AJ Styles has revealed that he has been forced to retire a popular move.
At WWE Backlash 2024, Cody Rhodes defeated AJ Styles to retain the Undisputed WWE Championship in the main event.
Following the premium live event, many fans praised Styles for one of his better matches in the past few years on the show.
Now in his mid-40s, Styles has adjusted to dealing with “Father Time” as his years in the wrestling ring have gone by and led to him transforming his moveset.
In a new interview with SHAK Wrestling, AJ Styles reveals that he will not be pulling out his Spinal Tap move any time soon. He said:
“If you’ve ever heard, ‘If you don’t use it, you lose it,’ that’s 100% the case,”
“It’s a very awkward way to flip and do some stuff. And I had put it on the backburner for so long, I just lost it.”
“And it’s in my head, but if I can’t pull it off the way that I want to do it, I don’t want to do it at all.”
“I haven’t even attempted it on a trampoline, in a pool, nothing. It’s there for the [Will] Ospreays or anybody else who wants to do it.”
AJ Styles also confirmed that he reached out to Will Ospreay about WWE prior to his signing with AEW, which you can read here.
