WWE Struggling To Sell Royal Rumble Tickets

WWE Struggling To Sell Royal Rumble Tickets

Royal Rumble is WWE’s second biggest show after WrestleMania. It’s the show that fans flock to see after the winter hibernation period and the show that even the most casual fans watch just to see whether their old favourites will be in the rumble match.

Despite all this, WWE are reported struggling to sell tickets to the show, which is this year takes places at Chase Field in Phoenix, Arizona.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that of the 43,000 tickets available, only around 25,000 to 30,000 tickets have currently been sold. Large parts of the arena are expected to be covered in tarp to hide the empty seats.

“The expectation right now is 25,000 to 30,000 paid for the Rumble, 7,000 to 7,500 for Raw at the Talking Stick Arena on 1/28, which would be a big disappointment, 6,500 to 7,000 for Smackdown on 1/29, and 8,500 to 9,000 for Takeover on 1/26. It really shows how much things have changed when Takeover is the most popular non-PPV ticket of a big weekend, although Saturday night is also the best night to draw.

“About two-thirds of the upper deck and several lower deck sections on the same side of the hard camera aren’t being used for Takeover, which has a $39.87 secondary market price.

“For Raw, only three sections facing the hard cam are opened with the rest being tarped, as well as one section of the lower deck on the same side a the hard camera. The price for entry on the secondary market is $33.10.”

The show itself is expected to be at least six hours long, which, with two rumble matches, is not unexpected.

You can follow our live coverage of the Rumble throughout the show on our website, and there will be two reviews of the show up on YouTube on Monday.
