While AEW Dynamite’s show-stealing ‘dream match’ between Kenny Omega and El Hijo Del Vikingo may have grabbed the headlines, there was another talent’s ‘performance’ from Dynamite that has seemingly even got his old colleague’s talking.
Said stand-out performance came from The Firm’s frontman Stokely Hathaway, who had the unenviable task of taking on the undefeated Hook in one-on-one competition.
While Stokely, was dressed to compete, he would unfortunately announce that he was not ‘medically cleared’ to compete moments prior to announcing his ‘retirement’ from in-ring competition.
This was accompanied by a very convincing ‘doctors note’ written on the back of a Wing-Stop receipt, which for some reason was denied by referee Bryce Remsburg.
Stokely’s hilarious attempts at getting out of the match were noticed by one of his former NXT colleagues Wendy Choo, who tweeted in response:
Stokely pls 😭😭😭

Unfortunately for Stokely, Hook would dispatch him in quick fashion and maintain his undefeated run.
Matt Hardy would later jokingly pronounce Stokely dead on Twitter, before vowing that Ethan Page will avenge his memory:
#RIP Stokely. He was a pretty good man. Ethan WILL AVENGE YOU! #AEWDynamite
